Caption from NASA: Scientists used this faint, fuzzy image to pinpoint one of three new Neptunian moons more than 4 billion km (2.8 billion miles) from the Sun.

(note: the animation was originally named "S2002N3_anim.gif" on Holman's website. "S/2002 N 3" is the provisional designation of Laomedeia, though other websites (NOIRLab and NASA) attribute this image to Halimede. "S/2002 N 3" is probably a typo of Halimede's provisional designation "S/2002 N 1".)

(additional note: the captions do not say when the images were taken, but mention that they were taken by the Blanco Telescope. The MPEC announcing Halimede's discovery says that the Blanco Telescope observed Halimede on 2001-Aug-10, 2002-Aug-14, and 2002-Aug-16. When you compare this image to the background stars at Halimede's location on 2002-Aug-14, they match perfectly. Therefore, these images were taken on 2002-Aug-14, the day of Halimede's discovery.)
