मरणोपरांत प्रकाशित कार्य (उपरोक्त के अलावा), प्रकाशन की तिथि से 60 वर्ष बाद सार्वजनिक डोमेन में आ जाते हैं, जिसकी गणना पंचांग के अगले वर्ष के आरंभ से की जाती है।
उपरोक्त के अलावा सभी प्रकार के कार्य, लेखक की (या फिर बहु-लेखकीय कार्यों के मामले में अंतिम जीवित लेखक की) मृत्यु के 60 वर्ष बाद सार्वजनिक डोमेन में आ जाते हैं, जिसकी गणना पंचांग के अगले वर्ष के आरंभ से की जाती है।
कानून, अदालती राय, और दूसरे सरकारी रिपोर्ट्स का टेक्स्ट कॉपीराइट से मुक्त होता है।
भारतीय प्रतिलिप्याधिकार अधिनियम, 1957 पूर्वव्यापी नहीं है, तो इसके लागू होने के समय जिन कार्यों पर कॉपीराइट मौजूद नहीं था, उनपर कॉपीराइट पुनर्स्थापित नहीं कर दिया गया था, यानी वे कार्य प्रतिलिप्याधिकार अधिनियम 1911 के अधीन सार्वजनिक डोमेन में हैं।
