दो आयाम (डिमॅनशनों) में ध्रुवीय निर्देशांक पद्धति में किसी भी बिंदु का स्थान उसके कोण और त्रिज्या (रेडियस) से पूर्णतः निर्धारित हो जाता है

निर्देशांक पद्धति (अंग्रेजी: coordinate system) ज्यामिति में ऐसी प्रणाली को कहते हैं जिसमें एक या उस से अधिक अंकों के प्रयोग से किसी भी बिंदु का किसी दिक् (स्पेस) में स्थान पूर्ण रूप से बताया जा सके। यह दिक् मनुष्यों का जाना-पहचाना त्रिआयामी (तीन डिमॅनशनों वाला) हो सकता है या फिर ऐसा कोई उलझा हुआ बहुमोड़ (मैनीफ़ोल्ड) दिक् जिसकी गणित में कल्पना की जाती है। सरल एक, दो या तीन आयामों वाले दिक् में अक्सर कार्तीय निर्देशांक पद्धति का प्रयोग किया जाता है, हालांकि ध्रुवीय (पोलर) पद्धति जैसी अन्य प्रणालियाँ भी उपलब्ध हैं।^[१]
